At least 12 people were injured, including six children, in a shooting near Florida A&M University’s football stadium in Tallahassee during homecoming festivities Saturday evening. Police confirmed that 11 victims suffered gunshot wounds, while the twelfth person, the grandmother of one of the victims, was injured while fleeing the scene.

The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets, outside Bragg Memorial Stadium. According to Tallahassee Police, six of the injured were adults and six were juveniles, with the youngest victim just 11 years old. At least three gunshot victims sustained serious injuries, including one in critical condition, while eight others were reported to be in stable condition.

Preliminary information indicates that an altercation occurred before the gunfire. Police Chief Lawrence Revell said investigators believe the shooting involved a limited number of people rather than a broader threat to the community. “We do believe this was an isolated incident between two or three individuals, and nothing more than that,” Revell said during a Monday morning news conference.

Responding officers carried wounded victims to safety and transported them to the hospital before the scene was fully secured, according to police. Investigators worked through the night reviewing digital evidence, collecting physical evidence and pursuing leads. Authorities have established a dedicated tip line at 850-891-4610 and are asking witnesses to provide photographs, videos or information that could assist the investigation.

Revell also spoke personally about the violence and its impact on the neighborhood where he was raised. “My message to the community is this: it is incredibly troubling when violence of this magnitude occurs in the very community that I grew up in. I was born and raised less than a mile and a half from here.” The investigation remains active as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
